Braking Page JTG

The braking load is calculated according to JTG 4.3.6.

The load is considered to be applied uniformly distributed in longitudinal direction along the roadway axis acting at the finished roadway level and in case of grillage modeling distributed proportionally to all applicable main girders.

SettingDescription
Braking force on 1 design lane The characteristic value of the braking force due to automobile loads on 1 design lane is taken as a percentage of the total lane load and is calculated as 10% × ( qk × L + Pk), but must satisfy a minimum of 165 kN for Highway-I and 90 kN for Highway-II as selected for automobile load grade in the General Page.
Number of design lanes in same direction The default value is calculated from the number of design lanes in the Traffic Page and the selected traffic type from the General Page (one-way or two-way).
Height of application Distance between the cross-section slab surface and the level of the finished roadway.
Reduction factor In dependency of the number of design lanes in the same direction a reduction factor is applied to the braking force.
Total line load Intensity of the line load obtained from multiplying Braking force on 1 design lane by the Reduction factor and dividing this value by the total bridge length as defined in Superstructure > Spans.
Note: This value is calculated automatically and cannot be changed directly but only by adapting the Braking force on 1 design lane and the Reduction factor.
